How Nex-Tech Can Improve Your High School’s Technology

Written by: Oscar Busch

November 21, 2025

As a high school student at Hays High, I can say that feeling safe and secure at school is a top priority for my classmates and me. Through my internship at Nex-Tech, I’ve discovered that they not only provide high-speed fiber internet but also offer a range of security systems, including alarms, surveillance, and access control. These features, implemented in high schools, promote safety and comfort for both students and staff.

Security Alarms

Nex-Tech offers advanced security alarm systems designed to keep schools safe and alert during any emergency. These systems can detect intrusions, fires, and other possible threats while instantly notifying school admins or local authorities. Schools need them because they deliver faster response times and give students and staff peace of mind, knowing Nex-Tech technology is always monitoring and protecting their environment.

Access Control at Entrances and Every Classroom Door

With Nex-Tech’s access control systems, schools can better manage who enters and exits their buildings. These systems use key cards or digital access points at entrances and classroom doors, ensuring only authorized people can enter. This helps schools reduce risk, prevent intrusions, and keep a safer atmosphere, especially for smaller rural schools that might not have the same luxuries as others.

Surveillance Systems

Nex-Tech’s surveillance systems use high-definition 360-degree cameras with audio capabilities to keep an eye on every corner of the school. The live feeds can be viewed remotely, letting staff respond quickly to any situation. These systems don’t just record, they help stop problems before they even happen. At Hays High, for example, this technology can help students feel safer even in open areas like the new glass catwalk and big classrooms.

This year, our new building features a glass catwalk and classrooms with large windows, yet I still feel safe knowing that Nex-Tech’s high-resolution, 360-degree cameras with audio capabilities are installed at every corner.

Many rural schools may not have the same luxuries that we have here at Hays High School. Feeling safe and comfortable in a learning environment is not a privilege; it is a necessity for all students. Unfortunately, there are still schools that are not properly equipped with the necessary security measures. I am happy to learn how Nex-Tech is helping to enhance security in rural schools.
