We Tested Two Actors –
The Results Might Surprise You
Which actor are audiences going to respond to? We had the same question while creating a new campaign for H&B Communications, with the “6/7 trend” as the center of it all. While working through all the logistics of campaign planning (scripts, storyboards, copywriting, design, and more), we typically like to use current customers as our featured actors when we can. It just so happens that Nex-Tech Creative has a team member who lives in the H&B Communications service area. He’s a great actor and is always up for the task.
So, the debate began – do we use this 30-year-old male customer as the campaign’s feature, or the cutest 8-year-old girl with a personality that can light up a room as our featured actor? The decision? Why not use them both? We decided to create separate assets with each featuring their candidates and run them against each other in our paid digital advertising.

Conclusion
As you can see, our male customer performed better on these platforms: YouTube and Snapchat, while our bubbly young lady performed better on Facebook and Spotify.
What is the conclusion? There’s no right or wrong here. Different platforms attract different audiences, and it’s normal for results to vary. When launching campaigns, it’s important to look at the target audience, understand what they respond to, and where their online activity takes them, and then use a method you think will deliver the best return. In this case, H&B Communications was targeting any adult in its service area who was eligible for new internet service. They wanted to target a wide audience, and multiple platforms worked well for that. If you don’t know where to begin, reach out to Nex-Tech Creative. We’d be happy to steer your thoughts in a strategic direction.
