Nex-Tech Engages with Senator Moran on Cybersecurity
On Friday, 6th October 2023, the Nex-Tech Economic Development Team was at Fort Hays State University, Hays KS, where we joined the Senator representing the state of Kansas, Jerry Moran. The senator had discussions with the team at the FHSU Cybersecurity Institute and Technology Incubator, as well as stakeholders like Nex-Tech on how western #Kansas can become a destination for cybersecurity jobs and industry.
Cybersecurity is a very big deal. Not just in terms of the risks to businesses and institutions, but also in terms of the opportunity to train an army of cybersecurity experts and build an ecosystem of professionals who are ready to combat threats.
We commend the Senator for taking an important step towards connecting academia and industry to create opportunity for western Kansas. Together, all stakeholders can work towards making FHSU’s cybersecurity program a magnet for cyber jobs and industry in our region. We can transform training, degrees, and certifications into a job in the region that an FHSU graduate can hold. We can create an economy around cybersecurity jobs here. It is possible.
