Foundation for Rural Service Announces 2023 Scholarship Recipients
Lenora, Kan, 6-20-2023 — Nex-Tech is pleased to announce Connor Schurr as a national award recipient of the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) scholarship program. Connor was among 42 students across the nation who were awarded FRS scholarships this year, and one of two who received the $2,500 Cronin Communications Scholarship funded through the Timothy Evan Owens Foundation.
Connor is the son of Bobbi Jo Schurr of Osborne. He is an Osborne High School graduate and will attend Fort Hays State University to major in Finance. His plan is to obtain his master’s degree and eventually open an Investment Firm.
The FRS awarded $124,000 to 42 students from rural communities served by members, like Nex-Tech, of NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association. The program awards one-time scholarships to students from across rural America for their first year of college, university, or vocational-technical school, and one scholarship to a student entering law school. Each student is sponsored by an NTCA member company.
“Nex-Tech is pleased to be a part of national organizations like FRS that offer advancement opportunities to our youth,” said Jimmy Todd, CEO/General Manger. “We congratulate Connor on his accomplishments thus far and wish him great success in the future.”
“Every year, FRS is proud to award scholarships to some of the best and brightest students from rural America,” said FRS Executive Director, Pam Becker. “Providing opportunities for young people in rural communities has been a core mission for FRS for the past 29 years and it would not be possible without the generous support of NTCA members and other individuals in the rural broadband industry. We are excited to announce to announce our 2023 scholarship recipients today and look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the future.”
