A few months ago, Joseph Le, Deputy Director of the Kansas Office of Broadband Development (KOBD), visited our Hays office. Joseph wanted to take a closer look at how we fulfill our mission of “making life better by providing world-class technology.”

I met with Joseph that afternoon, and couldn’t be more pleased to show him around. We began our tour of Nex-Tech facilities in the Hays area. We visited our main office in Hays, our historically quaint facility in downtown Hays, and our Network Operations Center in Victoria. Joseph met with our staff, including members of our executive management team, who interacted with the broadband leader.

I was happy to hear Joseph ask questions about our company structure, our commitment to the communities, our philanthropic initiatives, how we take care of our employees, and our commitment to excellent services and nothing less.

As we wrapped up that afternoon, Joseph made a comment that resonated with me: “I want to emphasize how grateful KOBD is to have Nex-Tech as an important partner in our mission to connect Kansans to reliable broadband”, Joseph said.

The key point in his quote, and I think his visit overall, is not about the work that KOBD or Nex-Tech does. It was about the point of our work: reliable service to Kansans. They’re a few words, but they place an enormous responsibility on Nex-Tech to prioritize the right things, make the right decisions, and ultimately realize that we are servants of the people we call customers.

Thank you for your visit, Jo. Take care, and hope we see you again soon.

I'm Friday Otuya /Oh-Too-Yah/. I love sharing development resources, working on initiatives that change lives, and building bridges that lead to prosperity.

Specifically, I originate, underwrite, and deploy capital to small businesses that typically don't fit bank credit criteria. These businesses create jobs and expand economic opportunity in Nex-Tech's service area. I also support Nex-Tech's community and legislative strategy toward making life better through technology.

Before this, I worked in broadcast journalism and corporate communications, and did development finance work across Africa and the U.S.

If you are curious how Nex-Tech can partner with you through loans, grants, donations, or another kind of capital investment, I'd love to chat.

I live with my wife and two lads in Hays, KS.
