Unlock Your Community’s Potential: Apply for an FRS Grant Today
Written by: Ella Burrows
In rural communities, a little support can make a big difference. Just ask the team at the Lenora Public Library. In November of 2024, the library received a $5,000 grant from the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Community Grant Program. With those funds, they upgraded their computer systems and significantly improved access to digital resources for their patrons. Today, their vision of delivering high-quality technology to their rural community is a reality, all thanks to Nex-Tech and the FRS.
And here’s the exciting part: your community could be next.
What Is the FRS Community Grant Program?
The FRS Community Grant Program supports rural communities served by NTCA members like Nex-Tech. Each year, the program awards grants ranging from $250 to $5,000 to projects that make a real difference in rural areas.
- Business & Economic Development
- Education & Workforce
- Health & Well-being
- Public Service & First Responders
What Makes a Project Competitive?
While all eligible projects are considered, priority is given to those that:
- Have at least 75% of funding secured or can be fully funded with the $5,000 grant
- Are technology or broadband-enabled
- Provide a long-term impact on the community
- Encourage community participation and engagement
- Promote a sustainable rural future
Applications are open each summer, and grants are awarded every November.
