Investing in the Heart of Northwest Kansas: Our Work with the Northwest Kansas Travel Council
Written by: Ella Burrows
At Nex-Tech, Northwest Kansas isn’t just where we work — it’s where we live, raise families, and build community. That’s why we’re passionate about supporting local organizations that help our region thrive. One such organization is the Northwest Kansas Travel Council (NWKTC), a nonprofit that has been promoting tourism and economic growth across 18 counties since 1992. The NWKTC is dedicated to highlighting the history, attractions, and charm of Northwest Kansas by helping both residents and visitors see the incredible value in our region. As a member organization, Nex-Tech is proud to support this mission and actively participate in the Council’s ongoing efforts.
In June, I had the opportunity to attend the Council’s monthly meeting, hosted by Graham County at the Goddard Place near Penokee. These meetings rotate locations throughout the region, giving members the chance to explore local attractions and connect with community leaders across Northwest Kansas.
The day began with a tour of the Goddard Place, followed by a team-building activity on the ropes course, which was a great way to connect with fellow members while learning more about the site’s impactful work. Afterward, we enjoyed lunch and moved into the business portion of the meeting.
A major discussion topic was how to use a Kansas Tourism marketing grant to better promote our region. Through strategic campaigns and storytelling, the Council aims to attract more visitors and drive support for local businesses, events, and destinations.
At Nex-Tech, we believe that when communities succeed, we all benefit. Supporting the Northwest Kansas Travel Council is one way we help ensure this region continues to grow and thrive. We’re proud to play a role in shining a light on the places and people that make Northwest Kansas truly special.
