Nex-Tech is lighting up Herndon and Oberlin with fiber!
Written by: Friday Otuya
The need for high-speed broadband in rural northwest Kansas has never been greater, and our mission of connecting families, businesses, and communities has never been clearer. These all came to life recently in the towns of Oberlin, KS, and Herndon, KS. We had customer sign-up events in both towns, where we invited residents to dinner, answered their questions, and signed them up to our fiber network.
For the Herndon fiber build, Nex-Tech was awarded a grant of $886,160 to connect the city with fiber broadband. On top of that, Nex-Tech invested an additional $336,840, bringing the total project cost to $1,203,000. For Oberlin, Nex-Tech is making its investment of over $4,600,000 to provide access to fiber broadband for all homes and businesses in the city.
These are monumental technological investments that will bring the most reliable and resilient broadband Internet out there to the people. This infrastructure will enable faster, reliable, resilient, and affordable broadband services to both communities. Fiber broadband will enable a resilient digital future for both towns. As the world moves to data-driven processes, both towns will be ready to leverage digital opportunities, grow, and succeed economically.
I’m pleased to see Nex-Tech making a generational investment in the future of Herndon, KS.
