CES Engages With LINC Grant Community – Herndon
The City of Herndon is located along Kansas Highway 117 (K-117) in Rawlins County, Northwest Kansas. Last year, Nex-Tech was awarded a grant to construct a fiber optic network in Herndon, as part of the Lasting Infrastructure and Network Connectivity (LINC) program. Nex-Tech will be starting construction in Herndon this summer. With the coming of high-speed broadband, more opportunities and possibilities will open up in the city. It is therefore important for local leaders and the community to know how to leverage fiber and other technologies for economic purposes.
With all these in mind, I paid a visit to the community to engage with the city council and learn of the ways Nex-Tech can continue to partner with and support community development in the area. During my presentation, I talked about how various technology solutions could benefit the community and highlighted the Nex-Tech loan and grant programs for small businesses.
Nex-Tech values the efforts of our local leaders. I was touched by the cheerfulness, open-mindedness, and optimism that the council exhibited during our exchanges. We acknowledge the challenges they have to deal with to keep community life thriving. The effort of Mayor LaVerne Frick and the Herndon City Council is appreciated. We will continue to do whatever we can to help our communities. We are grateful to be part of the story of Herndon, and we believe that the best days of the city still lie ahead.
