Things I have Learned on my Internship with Nex-Tech
Written by: Oscar Busch
Nex-Tech hosts several interns each year at both the high school and college level in partnership with Nex-Generation Round-Up for Youth’s internship program. Internships serve both students and companies. Students receive valuable real-world experience in the workplace, work alongside tenured employees, participate in projects, and gain insight into the jobs available here. Nex-Tech benefits from new ideas, mentorship and leadership opportunities, and most importantly, helping to shape the futures of youth in our area so they might build their careers here in Kansas.
I have been interning at Nex-Tech for more than two months now. Here are three important things I have learned during my internship at Nex-Tech.
1. Creating posts for the company.
I wrote blog posts for Nex-Tech’s website and Yak posts to keep employees updated. This helped me get better at putting information together clearly and making it easy for people to understand.
2. Working professionally in the office.
I learned how to use a company-issued computer and follow the workflow, while also figuring out proper workplace attire and how to present myself professionally without overdoing it.
3. Seeing how Nex-Tech supports local businesses.
Friday, and I drove down to Birdsall Autos in Osborne, a small rural business Nex-Tech helped fund. Visiting in person showed me how the company helps the community and supports local businesses.
