Nex-Tech Recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month with Employee-Driven Charity Donations

July 10, 2025
Mental Health Month

Hays, KS, July 10, 2025 — In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Nex-Tech provided a variety of resources and information to its employees. Nex-Tech is committed to supporting the mental health of its employees through its Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which offers access to counseling services, financial and legal assistance, resources for stress management, and work-life balance. Additional resources are available through Nex-Tech’s health insurance company and its benefits provider. Nex-Tech’s Care Committee organized a fun and engaging Bingo game that encouraged employees to prioritize well-being, learn about mental health, and connect with others. Each Bingo square challenged employees to complete activities that foster self-care, mindfulness, and positivity. Furthermore, a Nex-Tech employee, a certified Yoga teacher, led a workshop that included guided meditation and journaling time to help employees develop practical techniques to enhance their well-being.

Throughout the month of May, employees made monetary donations, resulting in a combined contribution of $1,195. The company pledged to match these donations, bringing the grand total to $2,390. Employees voted on charities recommended by their peers, and High Plains Mental Health Center’s new Crisis Intervention Center and Options Domestic and Sexual Violence Services were chosen as the recipients of the donations.

“The Crisis Intervention Center will be a vital resource for individuals facing mental health and substance use crises. Too often, those in crisis find themselves in emergency rooms unequipped to provide the specialized care they need or, even worse, in jail due to a lack of appropriate alternatives,” said Craig Poe, High Plains Mental Health Center’s Chief Executive Officer. “The CIC will change that by offering immediate stabilization, treatment and support in a safe, therapeutic environment that upholds the dignity of every individual.”

Jennifer Hecker, Executive Director of Options Domestic & Sexual Violence Services, shared, “We are honored and grateful to be chosen by Nex-Tech employees during Mental Health Awareness Month. This gift is a meaningful investment in the healing and safety of survivors in our rural communities. Acts of generosity like this not only support trauma-informed care, but also raise awareness about the deep connection between mental health and the experience of domestic and sexual violence victims. We’re proud to stand with Nex-Tech in building safer, more compassionate communities across northwest Kansas.”

“At Nex-Tech, our company culture is one of our top priorities. I am always excited to hear what ideas our Culture Committee and support groups come up with,” stated Nex Tech’s CEO, Jimmy Todd. “The idea to solicit employee donations to help support mental health in our communities came directly from our Care Committee and was completely employee-led. And the Nex-Tech Team showed up! We were happy to include a company match to help support the generous donations received. I am always proud of the Nex-Tech Team; this is just one of the numerous examples why!”
