Nex-Tech Marks Safe Digging Month with Gov. Kelly
The month of April is National Safe Digging Month (NSDM). Governor Laura Kelly issued a proclamation marking the month and calling Kansans to call 811 before starting any outdoor digging project. Nex-Tech through the umbrella of the Communications Coalition of Kansas (CCK) was part of a signing ceremony in Topeka. Nex-Tech has dug and laid thousands of miles of fiber optic cables across Kansas, thereby connecting thousands of Kansans to high-speed broadband.
Earlier in March, I was out in the field in Hays where I met with Nex-Tech Construction Foreman Mitch Hartman, as well as Construction Assistants Trace Jenkins, Bryden Morris, and others. On that visit, I saw a glimpse of the planning, preparation, and thought that Nex-Tech puts into the laying of fiber to homes and businesses. Nex-Tech encourages community members to call 811 before they begin digging projects to prevent injuries, property damage, or utility outages like a fiber cut.
