Full-Time Help Desk Representative – Hays, KS

 
Nex-Tech is seeking a technically savvy, customer oriented individual to assist callers with telephone, internet, and cable television service issues as a Help Desk Representative. If you enjoy technology, a challenge and working with people, this may be the job for you!
 
Job duties include supporting customers via phone and e-mail with telephone, computer, internet, and cable television related troubleshooting and questions, and maintaining customer database. Resolving technical issues efficiently, following the issue from start to finish. Following up on customer issues, escalating as needed, and avidly working to deliver the highest level of customer service.
 
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of PCs including software, hardware, maintenance, setup and networking fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of video entertainment equipment including VOD, HDTV, IPTV, set-top boxes and other video software/hardware.
  • Ability to provide customer assistance in a professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous manner.
  • Ability to meet department and Company standards for issue resolution, documentation, wait time, call handling goals, and other metrics.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • One year experience working with personal computers, various software programs, and the internet or equivalent training, and/or customer service experience.
 

Systems Engineer – Hays or Salina, KS

Our Systems Engineer designs, installs, troubleshoots and maintains IT infrastructure for internal and external customers, including network connectivity and utilization, Windows server administration, virtualization, performance tuning, backup, and restoration. The right candidate will be one who enjoys getting to know their customers, understanding their business, and providing solutions for new, or upgrading existing, equipment or software. Other tasks include identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems, maintaining documentation of client networks and systems, and providing service support for trouble tickets.
 
Desired Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
  • Knowledge of wired and wireless networking, PC and server virtualization, software, virus protection, and backup systems.
  • Ability to provide detailed documentation on system requirements, configurations, etc.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and act independently to resolve problems.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and various business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
 
Education and Experience:
  • Associates degree in Information Technology, or the equivalent, plus four years of experience, or the equivalent, installing complex technology projects.
  • Requires two Admin level certifications or one Professional level certification. Microsoft MCSE, SonicWALL CSSA and/or IBM/AS400 certification beneficial.
  • Must possess a Kansas Driver's license.

Network Technician – Southwest KS

The Network Technician will work directly with our managed services customers to help meet their IT needs. Daily tasks will include system administration duties including server installation, system/application installation and patch management, Windows issue resolution, log analysis and others. Configures, tests, and maintains LAN/WAN equipment and services including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN. The employee will also provide on-site and telephone technical support for Nex-Tech customers.

Network Operations Center Technician I – Hays/Surrounding Area

Our NOC is growing, and we need you to help make it happen! If you are experienced working with network operations and have a strong desire to work for a leader in the communications industry, you may be ready to join our Nex-Tech NOC team!
 
Our NOC Technicians monitor internal and external communications networks 24/7/365. Duties will include monitoring, assessing, and troubleshooting telecommunications and data. Other duties will include opening trouble tickets and managing ticket queues for response, follow up, and event escalations as well as responding to inbound phone calls, emails, and requests as needed. We offer a four-day work week with multiple shifts available, including shift differential pay opportunities.
 
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma, or the equivalent.
  • Ability to perform network surveillance utilizing standard industry monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking.
  • Knowledge of configuration, operations, and support of business networking equipment.

Network Operations Technician – Victoria KS

Our Network Operations Technician will assist in monitoring the Internet network and all associated equipment to determine network stability, traffic throughput, assess server overloads, link capacities and outages, and all other events that are detrimental to customer service. Maintains routers, switches, network management systems (NMS), and alarm collection.  Assists in the assessment and implementation of software and appliance-based IP security measures in both public and private segments of the network. Candidate will assist in documenting and managing IP address schemes and assigning IP addresses.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and abilities: 
  • Knowledge of networking, routing, protocols, and testing. 
  • Knowledge of switching, tagging, and transport protocols. 
  • Knowledge of cat6 cabling, termination, and troubleshooting.

Must be able to perform manual work to complete work orders, troubleshoot and repair buried and aerial plant, and maintain right-of-way. Assists with splicing cables and pulling cables to appropriate locations. Duties also include routine maintenance of construction equipment. Summer and winter work conditions.
 
Requirements:
  • 18 years of age.
  • Three months of construction experience working with heavy equipment.
  • Prior telecommunications experience beneficial.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • CDL not required but preferred.
