“American Hometown Heroes” Initiative Designed to Create Jobs for Veterans - Tuesday, December 13, 2011

HAYS, KAN 12-13-11- The Nex-Tech Directory has joined forces with Yellow Pages publishers across the United States to create a first of its kind “jobs program” designed to extend much needed economic relief to American Veterans returning home from military duty.

The “American Hometown Heroes” initiative will provide professional marketing advice and consultation to any returning veteran who would like to start a new business in their hometown – all at no charge to them! This program includes a comprehensive no-cost advertising program in both print and online Yellow Pages for an entire year.

Nex-Tech provides free Wi-Fi and television service to Centennial Mal - Friday, November 18, 2011

HAYS, KAN 11-17-11- This November, you’ll be able to try on something new for size at the Centennial Mall. Two televisions were installed in November, allowing customers and guests of the Centennial Mall to enjoy Nex-Tech TV while shopping. The two televisions are 40-inch flat screens purchased at Sears located in the Centennial Mall.

“Nex-Tech TV is now available in Hays,” said Scott Roe, Video Solutions Manager at Nex-Tech. “We’re happy to provide this service to the Centennial Mall, and are pleased for the opportunity to show visitors the types of services that they can get exclusively through Nex-Tech.”

Career Fair In Hill City to focus on rural Kansas jobs - Tuesday, October 25, 2011
Hill City, Kan, 10-24-2011—Nearly 600 students from 13 northwest and central Kansas high schools are expected at the Nex-Generation Career Fair & Expo on November 9, at the Hill City Jr./Sr. High School in Hill City, Kansas. “We are very pleased with the response to this year’s event,” said Nex-Tech/Rural Telephone Youth Services/Community Development Coordinator Jacque Beckman. “What a terrific opportunity for these students to hear about the many types of jobs and careers available right here in their own, rural Kansas communities.

TMP-Marian School Channel Debuts On Nex-Tech TV - Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Hays, Kan, 9-20-2011-- Nex-Tech is pleased to announce the addition of the TMP-Marian School Channel to its lineup of video offerings. The TMP-Marian School Channel is available on channel 168 on Nex-Tech TV.

Bill DeWitt, TMP-Marian Principal, is currently overseeing the channel, which is being used for school announcements, upcoming activities and other school related information. The channel and all the necessary equipment to create and edit the content were provided to the school at no charge by Nex-Tech. Students will film, edit and produce the programs for channel 168.

Nex-Tech Launches New Wireless High-Speed Internet in Oberlin - Monday, September 19, 2011

Oberlin, KS – September 19, 2011—Nex-Tech announced that new high-speed Internet options will be available to Oberlin residents and businesses starting September 29, 2011.

Nex-Tech will have a special event on September 29 at the Gateway Civic Center from 4-7 p.m. Representatives will be available to explain the new high-speed Internet options that are available. A free meal will also be served at the event.

Customers will be able to sign-up for the new high-speed Internet service at the event. Those that sign-up for Internet at the event will be contacted within a few weeks and the service will be activated at their home or business. The new high-speed Internet option will be delivered via WiMAX, which is a wireless Internet solution with speeds up to 6 Mbps.

Nex-Tech Launches “The Latest Thing” - Wednesday, August 10, 2011

HAYS, KAN, 8/9/11 Nex-Tech TV announces a new fashion television show, for teens, called The Latest Thing. The show will highlight all the newest trends for hair, beauty, and clothing for this year’s fall season.

The Latest Thing will feature demonstrations of the newest hair accessories and discuss the most popular hair styles and beauty tips, all from local beauty salons. Also, The Mall, of Hays, will be showing the fall line of clothing including shoes and their corresponding accessories.

Narrowbanding Deadline Nears For Mobile Radio Operators - Tuesday, August 02, 2011

HAYS, KAN 8-1-11- Farmers, fleet operators, schools and government agencies operating business band or Private Land Mobile Radio (PLMR) systems are facing a critical January 1, 2013, deadline. By that date, the FCC has mandated that all private PLMR licensees operating below 512 MHz move to 12.5 kHz narrowband voice channels.

Nex-Tech Mobile Radio Supervisor Ryan McClung urges PLMR operators to act soon, as the narrowbanding licensing process can be time consuming. “The required FCC paperwork can take anywhere from six to nine months to process. Since everyone is required to make this change, the FCC’s approval process continues to lengthen,” he said.
